Pump-controlled press brake

A product film of a 110-tonne press brake, made as pure 3D animation from the manufacturer's CAD assembly.

The press brake from a low angle in a dark studio: light sweeps down its side panel and a glint runs along the bed under the orange upper frame.

About the film

A 110-tonne pump-controlled press brake.
Made from
The manufacturer's CAD assembly, plus reference photographs.
Length
74 seconds
Sound
Mechanical sound design, no voiceover.

Every part is the real part.

The assembly comes apart along its real seams: frame, ram, cylinders, backgauge. Nothing is modeled for show.

  1. 01 Whole The press brake whole, before anything moves.
  2. 02 Opening The assembly separates along its real seams: frame, ram, tools and backgauge.
  3. 03 Hydraulics Pump-controlled unit and high-speed cylinders.
  4. 04 Backgauge and ram Aluminum beam, 6th-axis fingers and a ram guard.
  5. 05 CNC control A custom CNC system, its controls on the swing arm.
  6. 06 Precision Closed-loop scales and servo crowning, as the frame turns to glass.
  7. 07 Every system The frame is glass and all four systems are named in place.
  8. 08 Together The assembly closes back up into the finished machine.

The labels drawn on the picture are repeated in the chapter list.

  1. The machine pulled apart with its frame turned to glass, and callouts naming the hydraulics, CNC control, precision, and the backgauge and ram.
    00:12 Apart, each system named.
  2. The press brake whole in a dark studio: orange upper frame marked Y1 and Y2 over gray side frames and the bed.
    00:08 Whole, before anything moves.
  3. The press brake in a dark studio halfway through coming apart: the upper frame, ram, tools and backgauge drawn away from each other.
00:09 Coming apart along its seams.
